having been a floor trader for five years, as well as a teacher, coach, and high school principal. So you see, it was just like being back in the classroom or out on the football field for me.
Neal: Many of the people I've traded with on the floor have been trained by you. As a matter of fact, we affectionately refer to them as "Sid's kids." How many people do you think you've trainedballpark?
Sid: It's hard to come up with a number, because I've never thought about it. Maybe six or seven hundred. I don't know.
Neal: In a year how many people go through your trading program?
Sid: It fluctuates because it's an ongoing program of people who are either attempting to get into the industry or would like an introduction to it.
Neal: Why are you the best kept secret outside of Chicago? Nobody knows that if you want to become a Chicago floor trader, your firm has a training program and helps people get started. Is it kind of a closed society thing? Why don't you folks advertise, let people know?
Sid: You are right. We have not done a good job of advertising that we provide the best training program for local floor traders. We have started a more rigorous campaign on the Internet. We are also looking at the print media to get the word out.
Neal: When I took your classes, you observed mehow I did mock trading. In seeing how I did, you would then decide if I might be the kind of local you would want to have. Is that still the essence of what you're doing?
